You’ve no doubt noticed that it has been a very long time since there has been a new post on Farming Fort Collins and it’s been as frustrating for me as it may be for you.
I’ve heard many say that 2016 has been a struggle, and I’d heartily agree! 2016 has been among the most personally challenging years I’ve experienced thus far in my life – and I am greatly looking forward to 2017 – It has got to be better.
When the opportunity to write for Farming Fort Collins came along, life had settled into a busy but manageable routine. After sorting through the massive volume of topics that fall within the umbrella of Farming and then learning the intricacies of social media management, the whispers of a routine began to develop, and I envisioned myself as being a part of the Scoop Network for years to come. A major life change came along for our family; the loss of my job – which was a significant part of my identity and an important source of income.
I’ve returned to school to study accounting, and have found that the demands of classwork, parenting, and other obligations don’t allow me the time and attention that Farming Fort Collins needs. Writing this, my last post as the regular content creator for Farming Fort Collins, has been challenging and I’ve had a really hard time putting it together. I mourn that I’ll not be part of the many exciting changes that are in the works for the Scoop Network, and the future of FFC. I know that whomever takes the helm will be amazing, and I will cheer them on from the sidelines.
Be it here or in another space, it is my greatest hope that schedules will again settle into a predictable routine and that I can share some of the many ideas, information and conversations that our community is passionate about. I am so very thankful for this opportunity, for the friendships that have developed and the experiences that otherwise would have been missed.
Some of my earliest memories are of stringing words together to create stories or to record my ideas, thoughts and dreams. I’ve been writing and posting in since 2008 on our family blog ‘Tales from the House of Chaos‘ as well as contributing to other sites, so writing will always be part of my routine, but for the moment I rest my pen until a new routine is established and the urge to create can no longer be contained.
It is my hope that good fortune shines upon you in 2017.
